Counseling

In counseling, you engage in talk therapy with a mental health professional who can help you treat mental health symptoms and improve how you manage stress.

Our counseling staff is trained to assist with a range of areas including:

  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • Traumatic experiences
  • Family dynamics
  • Gender identity
  • Sexual orientation
  • Social and romantic relationships
  • Grief and loss

We offer free counseling to youth and young adults ages 13-24 who live in St. Louis city or St. Louis county, regardless of their income or insurance status.

Counseling services are by appointment only. Counseling is currently being offered by phone, virtual telehealth (video), and in-person appointments. Appointments are available Monday – Friday daytime hours, typically 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. The SPOT does not offer evening or weekend appointments.

Our waitlist to start counseling services is typically 3-6 months long. If you or someone you know is currently experiencing a mental health crisis, please call or text 9-8-8. Refer to the Youth Connection Helpline resource below for more details about crisis support.

Psychiatry

In psychiatry, you work with a medical professional who can diagnose and prescribe medication to treat mental health disorders.

We offer free psychiatry to youth and young adults ages 13-24, who live in St. Louis city or St. Louis county, and who have Medicaid or no insurance coverage.

Psychiatry services are by appointment only. Psychiatry is currently being offered by virtual telehealth (video) and in-person appointments. Appointments are available Monday – Friday between 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.
